A tragic incident reminiscent of Shakespearean drama unfolded in North Dakota, where a man, Steven Edward Riley Jr., fell ill and died after being allegedly poisoned by his girlfriend, Ina Thea Kenoyer.

The incident occurred as Riley was on his way to collect a purported $30 million inheritance check, which later turned out to be a scam. Riley had planned to break up with Kenoyer and didn’t want her to share in the imagined windfall.

Kenoyer, believing she was entitled to a share as Riley’s common-law wife, allegedly poisoned him with antifreeze, leading to his death. Despite her claims,

North Dakota does not recognize common-law marriages. Kenoyer is now facing charges and is being held without bond, with her next court appearance scheduled for December 7. She could potentially face a life sentence without parole.
