In 1971 Harold Barnes opened a Pal Center at 27th & Hagerts Street in the middle of North Philadelphia when Gangwar activity was at its peak!

Word quickly got around that Officer Barnes was tough but fair with a great sense of humor & a forgiving heart.

Many of Philadelphia Junior High & High School standouts such as Dawn Staley,Pooh & Jimmy Richardson, Hank Gathers & Bo Kimble came to the center to sharpen their game, compete or just hangout.

Also as a Sonny Hill League Coach Harold Barnes along with another Phila basketball standout Bob Black, were able to win Championships.

Every year his former players get together in back of Philadelphias Dobbins High & Honor Mr. Barnes, but this year they decided to Immortalize him with a Wall Sized Outside Mural located at 2641 York Street Phila Pa. 19132

About 100 people showed up to honor Mr Barnes including his former players & high ranking members of The Philadelphia Police.

This is a small clip of Harold Speaking & getting a bit overwhelmed with all the love & recognition.

Congrats Daddy! ?❤
You Deserve It!
